yesterday i had allergic conjunctivitis [i diagnosed myself and i am pretty sure it is]. swollen, red, watery eyes. nak study pun tak boleh, walhal aku ada exam this monday. i drove to clinic pusing satu penang cari 24 hours clinic. hopeless. pgh lagi hopeless. with friends, i went to adventist hospital.
it was kinda funny when the staff treated you like you always treat patient in the hospital. blood pressure measurement, BMI, history taking etc.
pendekkan cerita, i got medications which cost me RM65 [expected from a private hosp]. chlorampenicol (eye drops), piriton (anti histamine) and papase. i was like papase?? hurm. what is that eh? so i search on internet and this is what i found,
"Years ago, there was a drug called papase on the market, by one of the big drug companies. The story goes that the FDA required tighter rules on getting drugs approved, and paperwork and clinical trials were required. The drug companies felt, well, everybody knows this is just made from papaya, and no one will pay enough money to make it profitable enough for us to sell it. Forget it, let's take this off the market, let them buy more expensive drugs. Papase is no longer available."
ceh, baik makan betik sahaja! no longer available but yet i got it. i can sell it to the museum and get money!
